Reliable data gathering in conflict zone

Situation

Consortium of 7 UN agencies was in need of field data to plan their strategic response to the deteriorating humanitarian situation and issue a humanitarian appeal for funding. Evacuations meant no organization was on ground to collect data and reliable information.

Solution

We developed a special operation to identify, access and interview 180 key informants, 500 households and conduct 24 focus groups across the country with internally displaced persons, migrants, refugees and host communities.

Outcome

The unique and thorough multi-sectoral assessment was presented in workshops with the UN agencies to strategically select key humanitarian issues to focus on in order to maximize humanitarian impact in the highly insecure environment.
